en finir

At last, perhaps? I saw it on an ad. Google translate says 'finish with the feet dry' so maybe it is more like finish (the day) with dry feet?

4 commentaires:

  1. It really means "put an end to dry feet" - as in feet that are dried out and cracked.

  2. That's how I would translate "no more dry feet" in French...

  3. As is so often the case my guess work was somewhat off the mark and not helped by Google translate...

Many thanks, makes perfect sense now - updating the record on miLexicon ;-)

Now thinking of ways I could try to use "En finir..."

  4. En finir avec 'literal translation' -> put an end to my own literal translations?
